Please be advised that our Common Application is specifically for fall, first-year students applying to Rutgers for the first time and seeking full-time degree study. If you are interested in spring or summer entry, part-time enrollment, off-campus locations, or online or non-degree study, please use our Rutgers application.

Approximately 24-48 hours* after submitting your application, you will receive an email from Rutgers with instructions for creating your Rutgers CommunityID. Do not attempt to create your CommunityID until you receive the email. Your CommunityID will allow you to access your Rutgers Application Portal where you can view your application status and track your required credentials. Official decisions will be displayed in your Application Portal. Please be on the lookout for the CommunityID email and complete the registration process as soon as you receive it.

*During peak application deadlines, it may take up to 10 business days for Rutgers to receive and process your application and for you to receive the Rutgers CommunityID email instructions. Please wait until you receive the email with your unique CommunityID link. Creating a CommunityID before receiving this email may create difficulties in accessing your Rutgers Application Portal.

Current high school seniors are also required to complete and submit the Self-reported Transcript and Academic Record System (STARS) Record within 72 hours of submitting your application. STARS allows applicants to self-report their courses, grades, grade-point averages, and other academic information. After you set up your CommunityID, you will be able to either link your existing STARS Record to Rutgers or complete your STARS Record through the Rutgers Application Portal. If you are interested in being considered for the EOF program, you will be required to complete an additional application. The EOF application will be available after you create your CommunityID and should be completed within 72 hours of submitting the Common App. While you are awaiting your CommunityID email, you can prepare to complete the EOF application by gathering financial information.
